We have been preparing Bills of Quantities, especially for Contractors for Design Build Tenders, for the last eleven years. Bill production has provided approximately 70% of our turnover during this period, and is the mainstay and the specialism of the practice. We have developed an expert and efficient service and won a reputation for achieving accuracy and economy to short deadlines.
The Bills of Quantities preparation process by its nature identifies any missing, conflicting or ambiguous information in the tender documents, which we advise to our clients via query sheets and take off notes. Thus our clients are able to assess their design development risks, and manage them accordingly.
Project types have included warehouses, industrial units, retail sheds, chill stores, leisure/entertainment centres, holiday parks, offices, hotels, shopping centres,
PFI hospitals, care homes, social housing, private residential housing, schools, laboratories, military bases, student accommodation, youth hostels and multi storey carparks.
Generally we have produced Bills for projects ranging in value from approximately £0.5m - £10m. During winter 2000/2001 we took on our biggest project so far, worth considerably more than £10m, which was the preparation of some of the bills for the development of St Pancras Station, ready for its intended role as a Channel Tunnel Rail Link Terminal. This involved extension of the platform and train shed, and extension/alteration/refurbishment of ancillary parts of the station, all to English Heritage requirements. We have since completed further bills of variations and the like for CORBER, the consortium contractor on the scheme.
We have also completed package bills for the Temple Mills Eurostar Depot, including the structural steelwork for the 440m long Eurostar fleet maintenance shed.
We have completed Bills of Quantities for a number of partnership projects, including both social housing and care homes for the elderly, for Willmott Dixon Housing Eastern Region.
We are able to submit our bills electronically; in text file formats, which will read directly into many of the estimating systems currently used (Conquest & Kestrel for example); and alternatively in Microsoft Excel
™ . We can also submit our bills in hard copy format. We are able to provide dual analysis bills, if required; i.e. we can output both elemental and trade bills from the same set of dimensions.
Normally, and where sufficient information is available, we can propose fixed lump sum prices for Bills of Quantities for Contractors.
